Momentary reflections

Morning! *yawn* I am very tired today on account of a restless night and a late bedtime. I knew my mind would keep me awake with all the buzzing and I decided to take a Tylenol PM at 1am to calm down. Well....that stuff is made for drowsy mornings. Me thinks I would have been better off just letting the buzz buzz buzzing keep me up instead. I have a lot of things going on- the spiritual renewal path is in full effect and my guru has left the country for the next couple of weeks and she gave me plenty of homework in her absence. I haven't been keeping up with my journal the way I am supposed to, nor have I gotten a new pillow to help with my neck problems. I am starting a meditation practice tonight and meditation will become an important part of my life from here on out. It helps to have a master to guide me through the process. I am excited about my formal start this evening. Even though I am feeling a wee bit distracted by the intriguing man (in a good way), I am not allowing anything to derail my mission. It has been so long since I have felt the rush of excitement of someone new and I am trying not to get ahead of myself or let fear paralyze potential. I am going to take this day by day, moment by moment and revel in the knowledge that I can feel that pull in my gut again. I am not broken and I can move fully into forgiveness. Cleansing, prayer, meditation and love of self are my focus. Tonight will be for me to revive my sleepy self and get in some good alone time. I am going online to order my pillow and I am looking forward to a restful sleep this evening.

Listy

It has been entirely too long since my last post. Sorry! I have been living in a bullet list kind of way lately with multiple to-dos, so today I bring you a list to keep the momentum going.

1. I have been eating a lot of raw food lately and can see an difference in my energy levels. I guess it is good that I am single because the result is hilarious only to me.
2. Band of Horses kicks ass live. Especially when you are with a dear friend and have the NYC skyline as a back drop.
3. I am very seriously thinking about relocation within Brooklyn and am determined to find a place on MY terms this time.
4. Fuck BP.
5. I met a man that I am most intrigued by and hope he calls.
6. I am on a path of spiritual renewal and looking for a place of worship that isn't necessarily a traditional church.
7. From this day forward I am going to pray and meditate daily.
8. My pep is back in my step, but I still feel cloudy and unsure. This is going to take some time. Luckily I have someone guiding me through it.
9. I am going after what I want in a completely instinctual way and have put aside over analyzing for now. It was holding me back.
10. I can't wait for this weekend in Beacon. Bluegrass, mountains, river, friends and train rides. Perfect.

Endings or beginnings?

Hi Tuesday! I am coming to you in a rather odd place today. I'm a bit sicky with a slight sore throat and congestion. I am taking it easy and resting after work until theladylu arrives for our adventure in the big city on Thursday!! On top of that, work has been exceptionally draining and overwhelming this week. I have been feeling my deficiencies in my job and wanting to push harder than I am ready to. My boss is a brilliant mentor, but brutally honest with a side of foot-up-my-ass. On top of that, I have a CRAZY blister on the ball of my foot which is very painful and thwarting my workouts for the week. I am restless and tired at the same time.

Another interesting occurrence happened yesterday as I decided to break things off with a good man I have been seeing for the last month or so. I have known in my gut for the last couple of weeks that it's not a good fit for me, but was just hoping it would smooth itself out. It did not. Henceforth the breakup email was written and sent. Yes, email. I decided that was the best route to take because we had a date planned for tonight and I couldn't think of a good way to break up with someone on a date. Before, during or after dinner? Nothing sounded reasonable, not to mention that I didn't want to break it off in person because I felt it unnecessary considering we were not in a committed relationship. Earlier that day, I had to let another fine gentleman down via email, so Monday was the day of me breakin hearts! Who'd have thought?

C said it best when she told me I was going cold turkey from men for awhile. And that is exactly what I am doing. I am a bit melancholy that nothing has panned out, but I believe that there is something beautiful in store for me and when it presents itself, I will jump off and not look back.

Rudimentary

Hello friends! Happy Friday! I am pleased to announce that I am 4 1/2 hours away from a lovely weekend. Aside from the ol' schoolio, I can rejoice in peace, libations, exercise, makin out and some jovial friend time. This is the first week I feel like I am getting into a groove here. I have officially started  my workout plan and thus far it is shaping up to be exactly what I thought it would. I sent theladylu a text after my run on Tuesday expressing my gratitude for this new routine. Not only did it feel fantastic to get active, but I run down 5th Avenue from 115th Street to 55th, which takes me along the cobblestone walkway next to Central Park and past museum row. It's a bit surreal to be honest. Y'know, jogging to tunes and looking up at the Guggenheim and the Met like it's just an average part of my day.....and it is!

This week has been productive and quiet. I have stayed at home the last two nights with the roomie and it has been awesome to sit around and talk whilst sipping on bevvies. My loneliness is curtailed with her presence and it has brought me a sense of belonging in the apartment, albeit -very- empty apartment. Hopefully, we will be changing that soon.

My sea legs are getting stronger and I feel like I am finally moving toward being truly settled. My bestest will be here for the following weekend and I can't wait to show her the city the way she needs to see it- with me, duh! It will be an amazing time, full of laughter, exploration and shared joy of the precious moments we have together. Now that, is perfect and simplicity personified.

Trippin'

Hi friends! I'm back after a fun filled weekend that included an impromtu road trip weekend to Newport, Rhode Island. I think I took a subconscious cue from theladylu and found myself some adventure too. Friday night was a blast as I went to see a fav band of mine from Gainesville (REPRESENT!) at the Bowery Ballroom. Not only was the Holopaw show terrific, but I got to revel in the nostalgia of my old home. It made me miss Tally in a very deep and yearning type of way. Luckily, I quickly snapped out of it when reflecting upon my immediate surroundings. Saturday included a Vespa, the Cyclone, new friends and corndogs. During the evening, a plan was hatched to leave for RI in the morn. Four hours later, I was back awake (barely) and on my way to a new state with new friends that I had met 12 hours prior. How's that for adventure?! The trip north was quiet, but we soon arrived at a beautiful beach called Watch Tower Hill. Lovely coves and mansions dotted the coast line and I inhaled every briny ocean scent I could muster. We later arrived at a bbq where I devoured ribs and booze til I had to lay down for a break. The next day, we went cliff walking on the picturesque Newport coast and sailing on a 1926 vintage schooner. The feeling of being on a true sailboat in a pristine bay was almost too much happy to handle.

Let's hope for a good week to top off the weekend!
