Weekend Blender

Hola Lunes! I'm starting my Espanol class today! I'm really hoping that an hour one time per week will do the trick. Even though I hear it everyday, it's still not coming back to me the way I had anticipated.

This weekend was a mixture of fun and a very annoying sadness that hung over me and my fun. It has since passed, but boy, did it sneak up out of nowhere. I felt really lonely, even though I have house guests and was around folks all weekend. I took some time to myself for a good part of Sunday to meditate, journal and watch some TV. I felt better after the quiet time and decided that I needed to leave the house and head to the market. I had a fun bean salad recipe that I planned for this week's lunches and needed some other fresh foods in the house. After throwing the salad together, the sadness lifted. There is a very cathartic and focused energy about cooking that erases my dark moods. I should do it more often. All of this was in preparation to get me into a better head space for the birthday party I had to attend last night. And I am SO GLAD I got my ass in gear and made my way to Manhattan. I had the best time and made some really great connections with people that I absolutely adore. I think some budding friendships are in the works and this group of folks are mostly fabulous gay mens and one particular lady that I have a soul sister vibe with. After talking to the Fem last week, we realized that I'm not friends with any single ladies in NYC and she has no single guy friends in ATL. This is very true to both of our patterns, but it made me realize that I must get some comrades in crime that are of the feminine persuasion.

Aside from that, I went to go see We Are Scientists and LightSpeed Champion on Saturday night. It was one of the best shows I have ever been to. High energy rocking, crowd surfing and comedy all rolled into a terrific venue with $3 beers and excellent acoustics. Rad. The youngins' were tickled that I got them booze and they could drink like grown ups. Too cute. Thank god I'm not 20 anymore.

I have the party tonight for Patchoula's friend. I wore a cute black dress and leopard flats to work so I can leave from here and meet up with him before the gathering. I am really looking forward to hobnobbing with some famous peeps and meeting the Brit. Wish me luck!!
